Udaipur
I have been volunteering with the charity Bastiram In Aakhriya, Udaipur. They work facilitating healthcare and hygiene in local communities and access to education, making it possible for people to get well paid work and a have more promising and stable future. I've been teaching English at the local school in the Daangi community and a Photography course at the local boys home. I have been documenting their community, during my time working with them. The women (and sometimes children) might have to make crafts to sell in the city or the men often are forced into to having to work in the nearby marble mines, which are very dangerous and hard work. Although the Daangi tribe have a difficult and uncertain future, they are a calm and very happy community. They were very welcoming to me and seemed proud of their homes, friends and family, and what they do have.
